FROM NATIONAL PATRIOTIC PARTY Friends, today we gather not in sorrow alone, but in celebration of a life that has left an indelible mark on our party, our nation, and our hearts. We honour Obaa Yaa Afrifa — a patriot, a mother, a sister, and a friend. At a time when fear silenced many under the PNDC regime, Obaa Yaa’s voice rose — steady, fearless, and resolute. She did not shout the loudest, but her name carried weight, her courage inspired, and her presence reminded us that silence was not an option. She did not simply join the New Patriotic Party; she became one of its heartbeats. Obaa Yaa carried within her a fire that could not be dimmed. She was among the first to arrive at meetings and the last to leave. She believed politics was not about titles or wealth, but about service — and she lived that belief every single day. When others hesitated, she stepped forward. When resources were scarce, she gave of her own. When young women doubted their place in leadership, she mentored them with patience and conviction. Ask the founding members, and they will tell you: Obaa Yaa had a way of making everyone feel seen. She listened not only to words, but to hearts. She showed us that leadership is not about standing in front, but about lifting others up when the road is hard. She proved that women belong at the table where the future of Ghana is shaped. Today, as we bid her farewell, our hearts are heavy, but our gratitude is immense. Gratitude for her voice that broke the silence. Gratitude for her hands that built our movement. Gratitude for her heart that embraced us all. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the elections she helped win, and the culture of friendship she fostered. But the greatest tribute we can offer is not in words, but in deeds. Let us rise, as she rose. Let us serve, as she served. Let us keep the flame of loyalty, patriotism, and service burning bright. Rest well, Obaa Yaa Afrifa — our sister, our patriot, our friend. Your work lives on in us. Justin Frimpong Kodua General Secretary, NPP TRIBUTE W 48 A Loving Farewell 1934 MRS. OBAA YAA AFRIFA 2025
